Prayer Request

A special prayer request for our brother Rob Johnson, who has been part of our Eastward Family since 2010.

rob

Dear Friends,

"God is just as willing to restore the sick to health now as when the Holy Spirit spoke these words through the psalmist. And Christ is the same compassionate physician now that He was during His earthly ministry. In Him there is healing balm for every disease, restoring power for every infirmity. His disciples in this time are to pray for the sick as verily as the disciples of old prayed. And recoveries will follow; for "the prayer of faith shall save the sick." We have the Holy Spirit's power, the calm assurance of faith, that can claim God's promises. The Lord's promise, "They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover" (Mark 16:18), is just as trustworthy now as in the days of the apostles. It presents the privilege of God's children, and our faith should lay hold of all that it embraces. Christ's servants are the channel of His working, and through them He desires to exercise His healing power. It is our work to present the sick and suffering to God in the arms of our faith." Ministry of Healing p.226

I have just spoken to Rob, who is currently at Eden Valley in the US. On Wednesday he received word that a swelling he has had in his cheek for a few months is T cell lymphoma. This is a serious cancer, and 2012 is on hold for Rob as he finds God's will for him through this challenge. He is praising God for His providences in the last month or so regarding His provision for his health, even to being at Eden Valley receiving special help for free. And y'know what? (to use one of Rob's phrases!), he is giving fellow patients Bible studies while he is there!

Rob has sometimes said that he liked visiting cemeteries because they remind him of the precious reality of life, of the certainty of death for us all, but also of a promised future life for the faithful. His prayer was that he would live his life without regrets or fear - and praise God! - the life Rob has chosen to live has put him in the space he is in now - His faith is in the Lord, he knows his help is from the Lord.

I share this news that you may join the Eastward family (and all Rob's family and friends) praying for God's will to be done in his life, and that the staff at Eden Valley and the medical people he will consult with will be directed by the Great Physician. Let's present Rob to God in the arms of our faith.

Welcome

Eastward Missionary College prepares people to be vibrant, happy Christians - workers with Jesus in His mission to bring complete restoration to each individual.

Our students are trained to be practical Christians dedicated to the service of God and the well-being of their fellow human beings - inspiring leaders in their local communities and churches as they represent their Saviour.

Eastward inspires Christians with a vision of what they may become and what they may achieve as Christ's co-worker. It's balanced educational experience harmoniously stimulates spiritual strength, physical health, intellectual excellence, social harmony and practical skill.

Eastward provides the environment necessary to develop dedicated, educated, well-disciplined, cultivated, self-reliant and practical Christians. The classroom instruction, the practical training, the physical labour and the challenging experiences all work together for the development of a heart of love and a symmetrical Christ-like character.

Location

Rollands Plains, New South Wales, Australia

Eastward is located in the beautiful Wilson River valley on the mid-north coast of New South Wales. Following God's original design, nature has been chosen as your classroom - our developing campus of 273 acres is ideal to stretch your muscles and to learn from God's lesson book of nature. Surrounded by dense rainforest, rolling pastures, pristine rocky rivers, steep mountains, and golden white beaches, you are far from the turmoil of modern life, yet close enough to visit the masses that need to hear the news of salvation.
